Made in our lab, on one technology platform
Artisan is our house collection. Every Artisan lens is digitally surfaced with freeform technology, point by point across the whole surface, in our St. Cloud, MN lab. The same design technologies run through the progressive lineup, from Artisan 1 to iOn.
- ThinMax
- Uses frame shape data to optimize lens thickness, for thinner, lighter lenses, especially in plus powers. Material choice stays open.
- ClearView
- Redistributes and minimizes lateral astigmatism, moving the usual progressive blur away from the useful areas of the lens. Wide, sharp visual fields with less swim.
- BinocularBalance
- Balances astigmatism and distortion on both sides of the corridor, for better fusion of lateral images and sharper peripheral vision.
- OptiMesh
- Ray-path compensation that personalizes the lens to each patient’s physiology and position-of-wear measurements, for a wider reading area and less lateral astigmatism.

How an Artisan iOn lens is designed
iOn changes the progressive from fitting to design to dispensing. Each lens is built from the patient’s own gaze map, so no two are the same.

Gaze dynamics analysis
In an immersive VR experience, the iOn headset maps how the patient moves their head and eyes to look at the world.

Personal gaze map
The data becomes a heat map of high- and low-use areas across the lens, from red for the most use to blue for the least.

Lens design and surfacing
The iOn core combines the gaze map with Artisan’s design technologies and position-of-wear data to shape a surface unique to each eye.

Frame-optimized lens
The design accounts for the exact frame shape and geometry, moving the usual progressive blur out of the useful visual area.
Wrap, sport and single vision
Specialty designs built on the same technology platform as the progressives.
- Artisan Curve
- Designed and compensated for wrap and sport frames. It reduces thickness in large eye sizes, gives up to 120° of binocular visual field, and adds decentration adjustments for larger, more complex sport frames.Available as Artisan Curve (progressive) and Artisan Curve Single Vision.
- Artisan Single Vision
- A digital single vision lens with ray-path compensation to reduce peripheral distortion, for clean vision from center to edge. ThinMax is available for plus powers.Available as Artisan Single Vision and Artisan Single Vision Thin.
